Keeping up with regular time in God’s Word can be a challenge when you have the rest of life to deal with. I even struggled to remember to take my Bible with me to church when I had a preschooler, a toddler and a baby to get ready and a nappy bag full of supplies to carry! So, having a Bible app on my Smart Phone was ideal. But there’s more to Bible apps than just the Bible. They are great tools for Bible Study – what ever your level. And you don’t have to spend a fortune on resources! So today I’ve put together a list of the best free bible study apps for women to give you some great ideas.

Best free Bible Study Apps for Women

I’ve had great fun over the last few weeks exploring some apps I was already familiar with and finding some new ones that offer great resources for those wanting to spend more time in the Bible. In fact, I’ve enjoyed it so much I’ve taken a bit longer than planned to get this post to you!

Some are these Bible study apps are specifically aimed at women, others are just very handy for busy women on the go. Whether you are looking for an online Bible Study group, daily reading plans, in-depth study, memory verse help or an audio Bible, these apps have got you covered!

Bible Apps

YouVersion

Let’s start with the most popular, best rated Bible app – YouVersion. There is a great list of bible translations to choose from, either online or download to read offline and audio versions.  There are thousands of reading plans and devotionals to choose from, some just lasting a few days, others much longer.

You can take notes, bookmark and highlight sections and share your plans on social media.

This is my go-to Bible when I am on my phone or tablet. I start each day with reading the bible verse of the day on youversion, which I then usually share on instagram and facebook.

bible Gateway

Bible Gateway App

Bible Gateway is my go-to website when I am looking up verses or doing a Bible study on my computer.  This website is great for looking up a verse in different versions as there are so many to choose from!

But there is also a Bible Gateway app you can use on your devise.  There are functions for highlighting, note-taking, resources, sharing. You can search by verse or look up keywords. There are reading plans with daily reminders, commentaries, dictionaries, and an audio bible to help you dig deeper into the text.

Bible verses about change and transition

bible is

If you want the Bible to come alive check out Bible Is . This app has a huge selection of audio Bibles which you can search by version, language (over 1800!) or country. I love listening to the dramatised versions.

You can also see Scripture through clips of the Jesus movie.

blue letter bible

Blue Letter Bible App

Blue Letter Bible app is great for in-depth Bible Study. I often refer to the website when doing a word study, looking for a commentary on a passage or finding words in the original languages.

There are a variety of reading plans to choose from that take you through the whole Bible and you can take notes, or add highlights.

Olive Tree

With the Olive tree app you have the ESV and NIV free and can purchase other versions and bible study resources from the store.

You can take notes and highlight or save passages and share ‘verse of the day’ images to social media.

One of my favourite features is the split screen ‘Study Center’ to view your notes, resources or look up words.

Olive Tree Bible Study App

logos bible study tools

Logos Bible Study App

The Logos Bible Study app  is for serious Bible Scholars! Maybe you’re preparing a talk, writing a Bible Study, or just love Bible research.

The app allows you to look up various versions, take notes (which automatically link to the Scripture verse), and access resources for word studies, character studies or topical studies.

I use this app when preparing my Scripture Plans as I can keep my notes, resources and the Scriptures together.

Inductive bible study

With the Inductive Bible Study app you can do an inductive Bible study wherever you are, whenever you want.  One of my favourite features in this app is marking. You can mark individual words with colour-coding or symbols and then look up every reference you have made with that marking. If you are doing a word study or theme study that may take you some time I’d highly recommend doing it on this app!

There are no paragraphs or subject headings in this Bible – you add them yourself!

Inductive Bible Study App

through the word

Through the Word Bible Study App

Through the Word is an app I have recently discovered, while putting together this post. I was looking for a reading plan that would walk you through the whole bible systematically, and when I found Through the Word I really loved it!

The reading plans take you through the Bible one chapter at a time, with a short audio guide (about 10 minutes) on the chapter, space to take notes, and a place to record your prayers.

Get to school pick-up 15 minutes early and have your quiet time in the car!

remember me

Do you struggle to remember verses from the Bible? Then the Bible Memory: Remember Me app might be just the thing you need!

With the memory verse there are games to fill in the blanks or select the next word.  Add your own verses to memorize and keep score of how well you remembered the verse each day.

Make this a fun activity with your family!

    Bible Study Apps for Women

    First 5

First 5 Bible Study App for Women

First 5 is a lovely app created by Proverbs 31 Ministries.  When you log into the app you’ll find a daily reading with a short devotion, designed to be completed in 5 minutes. This devotion is packed with application, background information and study of the text. At the end of the devotion there is also space for you to share your comments and read the comments of others. You can also choose from a variety of reading plans.

The She Reads Truth app (available at google play and itunes app store) contains bible reading plans that you can purchase individually or subscribe for $1.99 a month to access all the plans. The plans are, however, free on the shereadstruth website, which I also find much easier to use. You can also purchase study guides to go with each plan.

One thing I really love about She Reads Truth is that there is also a men’s version, and the study guides also come in journals for teenage girls and boys. So, the whole family can be studying the same passages but have study notes and guides tailored to their needs. The website also sells great bible resources for children.

    Love God Greatly

Love God Greatly (available at google play and itunes app store) is another great Bible Study app for women. Something unique about this site, which I love, is their focus on providing Bible Studies globally. Their Bible Studies are translated into over twenty languages in over 100 countries. (You can find blog posts about their translation work on their website).

I find this app really easy to use – I can easily locate the Bible Study or reading plan I am working on, read the devotional, comment or write my own notes.

What is your favourite Bible Study app for Women? Which of the ones above do you think you are keen to try out? Let me know in the comments!
