Promises That God is with us

Bible Reading Plans, Get to know the Bible

Scripture is full of promises that God is with us. In the Old Testament he reassures his people that he will never forsake them; the early church is told that nothing can separate them from God; and in between we have God himself dwelling with us in human form.

This Bible Reading Plan is the twelfth and final Bible Reading Plan in my series on the Promises of God.  However, the plans to do not have to be done in any particular order. You can find links to the other plans below, as well as a form to download the plan.

Bible Verses of Promises that God is Always with us

Unless otherwise stated the Scripture References are taken from the English Standard Version, with links to biblegateway.com. While referring to lots of different versions in my study, I generally use the ESV Women’s Study Bible.

The Prophet Isaiah foretold that God would be with us in human form,  but throughout the Bible there are many promises that God is with us.

Isaiah 7:14 God is with us

Promises that God is with us

From the creation of Adam and Eve we can see that God values relationship with us. Even when we fail him he still promises that he is with us, and often reminds us of that promise!

God Dwells with his People

I love the word ‘dwell’. It means to live in or inhabit a place permanently or for a time. When God promises to dwell with us his presence is made known to us.

For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:
“I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite. Isaiah 57:15

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. Rev 21:3

God Promises to be with us in Hard Times

God promises to be with us in our struggles and suffering. We can see this in the lives of those in the Bible, the testimony of others and our own experiences.

It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. Deut 31:8

God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns. Psalm 46:5

God Promises to be with us when we seek him

God promises that if we seek him we will find him.

You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13

Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. James 4:8

God Promises to be with us Always

God is with us forever, we cannot be separated from him.

Behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. Matthew 28:20

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

Final thought on the Promises that God is Always with us

God’s Promises that he is always with us are very reassuring to us, especially in times of need. But, they can also be a warning to us, reminding us of his omnipresence. We can’t hide from him!

Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him? declares the LordDo I not fill heaven and earth? declares the Lord. Jeremiah 23:24

I pray that whatever your circumstances you will receive blessing and encouragement from these promises.
