Introducing the Scripture Plan for November! This month we are reading through the book of Joshua. Our title for this month is ‘Victorious’, as we see the Israelites possess the Promised Land and see God’s promise fulfilled. I thought it would be good to introduce this theme by looking at some Bible verses about victory, and I discovered quite a few – so lets get started.

Bible verses about Victory

The Bible has quite a lot to say about victory, so I’ve sorted the Bible verses into categories.

Bible verses about the promise of victory

Since we are going to be studying Joshua let’s start there!

No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. I will be with you, just as I was with Moses. I will not leave you or abandon you. Joshua 1:5 (CSB)

The Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them, for I have handed them over to you. Not one of them will be able to stand against you.” Joshua 10:8 (CSB)

Your hand will be lifted up against your adversaries, and all your enemies will be destroyed. Micah 5:9 (CSB)

For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory. Deuteronomy 20:4

Bible Verses about Victory from God

A horse is prepared for the day of battle, but victory comes from the Lord. Proverbs 21:31

Here are some great verses from Psalms praising God for his victories:

Now I know that the Lord gives victory to his anointed; he will answer him from his holy heaven with mighty victories from his right hand. Some take pride in chariots, and others in horses, but we take pride in the name of the Lord our God. They collapse and fall, but we rise and stand firm, Psalm 20:6-8

For they did not take the land by their sword— their arm did not bring them victory— but by your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, because you were favorable toward them. You are my King, my God, who ordains victories for Jacob. Through you we drive back our foes; through your name we trample our enemies. For I do not trust in my bow, and my sword does not bring me victory. But you give us victory over our foes and let those who hate us be disgraced. Psalm 44:3-7

Sing a new song to the Lord, for he has performed wonders; his right hand and holy arm have won him victory. The Lord has made his victory known; he has revealed his righteousness in the sight of the nations. He has remembered his love and faithfulness to the house of Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen our God’s victory. Psalm 98:1-3

Bible Verses about Victory over Death

Death has been swallowed up in victory.
Where, death, is your victory?
Where, death, is your sting?
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ! 1 Cor 15:55-57

Bible Verses about Victory from Sin

For this reason take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand. Eph 6:13

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Cor 10:13 (ESV)

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 (ESV)

For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace. Romans 6:14 (ESV)

Bible Verses about Victory over Fear

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:35-39

Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4

For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world— our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 1 John 5:4-5

Bible Verses about Victory in Jesus

He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him. Col 2:15

But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. 2 Cor 2:14

The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne. Rev 3:21

How does the Scripture Plan work?

This Scripture Plan takes us through the book of Joshua in 30 days.  I have chosen to make all my monthly plans for 30 days even though not all months are this length, so you can choose to do them at any time. The Scripture Plan contains a Bible passage to read for each day.

I have also written a Bible Study Guide and Workbook to go with the Victorious: 30 Days with Joshua Scripture Plan. Here you will find a page for each day of the study. The daily worksheets use my 5L Bible Study Method: Letter, Look, Learn, Live, Love which encourages and guides us to look deeper into the text we are reading.

Each day I give a short description or question to give you a start, but please remember to look for what God is teaching you through each passage – this may be different to what I have said. That’s why there is also space for you to write your own thoughts in each section. Get your copy here!
